Frasers Group to reportedly close Harvey Nichols’ Birmingham store in January
Frasers Group is reportedly set to close Harvey Nichols’ Birmingham store on January 3, 2027, after 25 years of trading. According to Drapers, staff of The Mailbox-located retailer were informed of the closure on October 5.
The decision follows a series of changes to the Harvey Nichols portfolio since Frasers acquired the retailer through a pre-pack administration deal in August. The acquisition included its online business, inventory and six UK stores, with more than 1,000 jobs retained.
In September, Harvey Nichols’ Dublin store closed after the Irish business entered insolvency and failed to secure an agreement to continue trading. Earlier this month, Frasers also announced plans to convert the Leeds and Bristol Harvey Nichols stores into its Flannels brand.
The future of Harvey Nichols’ remaining locations, including its Knightsbridge flagship, Edinburgh and Manchester stores, remains unclear.
Following the acquisition, Frasers said it would review Harvey Nichols’ store portfolio, organisational structure, operating model and cost base as part of a wider restructuring. The group has not yet publicly confirmed the Birmingham closure, with Drapers reporting that it had approached Frasers and The Mailbox for comment.
